She nodded while Damon scooped her up in his arms. “Let’s go back inside and have some fun,” he said with a somber tone. I hated that she picked this day to ruin and scaring the crap out of Rose. But I hoped she would get clean and maybe one day she could be in Rose’s life.

After dinner, the DJ took the microphone. “It’s time for the Bride and Groom’s dance.”

Smiling, I pushed the earlier event out of my head and decided to enjoy the night with my now husband. Damon stood, offering his hand out for me to take. And I did so.

We made our way to the center of the dance floor and moved to the slow song that played. “I hate when all eyes are on me.”

“It’s just our friends and family, Dove.”

I smiled and pressed my head onto his shoulder. In his arms, I felt safe, loved, and I knew Rose and I were his entire world. Losing either one of us would kill him.

Once the song was over, we continued dancing to the faster music and Rose excitedly joined us. Her dance moves made us laugh in hysterics.

It was toward the end of the night, and our guests came over congratulating us before they left.

While we got our own things together to leave, I felt it. “Oh god. My water just broke.”

  “Shit. Shit,” Damon panicked.

“Don’t freak out. Just get Olivia. She’s going to the delivery room with me. Tell the rest of the guests we have to leave. Have Olivia grab my overnight bag from the house. She knows where it’s at.”

He came back, fumbling to find his car keys.

“Now get me to the hospital.”

Twenty-four hours after being in labor, I held my baby boy. We named him Kingston Cade Alessio. We would call him King for short. He had a head full of dark hair.

“He is literally the cutest thing ever,” Olivia said.

  “What do you think, Rose?”

  She pointed. “My brother.”

I smiled wide. “Yes. He is your baby brother. And you’re gonna be the best big sister to King.”

She really didn’t know what to think. But she was around Olivia’s baby for a few months so I think she was kind of used to it. But this little guy was her brother.

“Damon, do you want to hold him?” I asked.

He nodded, and I carefully passed my son to my husband. My son…that was a weird thing to say but I knew eventually, I would get used to it.

“Oh my god. He is so tiny,” Damon said. Matteo stood next to Damon to get a look at our son.

“I know. He’s only seven pounds and six ounces.”

Olivia reached for my hand and squeezed. “You did good, mama.”

  “Thank you.”

Damon passed the baby back to me. After being in labor for so long, I was exhausted and I really needed some sleep, if that was gonna be possible. But it was nighttime, and if I could get a few hours, I would be happy with that.

Olivia looked to Matteo then to me before taking Rose’s hand. “Why don’t we take Rose home with us, so you can get some sleep? We can come back first thing in the morning.”

Matteo nodded. “We would be happy to take her.”

“Do you want to stay the night with Aunt Olivia and Uncle Matteo?”

  “Yes.”

I held my arms out for her. “Come here and give me a kiss before you leave.”

“Can I give him a kiss?” she asked of King.

“You can, but be really gentle.”

I held the baby lower so she could kiss his head and it was the most precious thing I had ever seen.

“I’m so exhausted,” I told Damon when the rest of the gang left for the night.

“I’m sure you are. Put him down for now, and I’ll be here if you need anything.”

“I just need a few hours.” I placed Kingston in his crib and settled back in bed.

Damon sat in the chair next to my bed and took my hand in his. “Just one thing before you go to sleep.”

He handed me an envelope and I eyed him suspiciously while he watched me. “I wanted to give it to you earlier, but with the reception interruption and everything, I’ll give it to you now.”

Opening the envelope, I pulled out what looked like plane tickets and I carefully read the destination. “Damon, you bought two tickets to Hawaii.” I was so surprised.

“Since we couldn’t go on a honeymoon right away, I figured once you were ready, we could get away for the weekend. Or longer. But I imagine it’ll be difficult pulling you away from Rose and baby Kingston here.”

I smiled. He was right. It would be hard to leave them behind, even for a few days.

“If it makes you feel more comfortable, we can take the kids and bring a nanny along for the daytime.”

“No. I’m sure I can survive two days without the kids. Besides, that is what god-parents are good for, watching the kids. It was a really thoughtful gift.” I cupped his face. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He took my hand again and kissed my fingers. “I love you so much.”

  “I love you, too.”

  “I can’t believe I have a son. It’s unreal.”

“I know. It is hard for me to believe I just gave birth to a baby you and I created.”

“That’s nuts. Get some sleep, love. I’ll watch over Kingston.”

I didn’t argue. My eyes closed and I was out.

  Chapter Nineteen

  DAMON

“Happy birthday,” we sang to Rose on her sixteenth birthday. It was hard to believe I had a sixteen-year-old daughter and a twelve-year-old son. Time with them had flown by, and I couldn’t imagine a life without them.

Kara was busy talking to Olivia about something. And even now, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. After having King, the doctor told her if she had any more babies, that it would be putting her own life in danger. I never knew the severity of it after she had King, until we saw the doctor. We got a second opinion and it was the same result. We decided not to risk it. I was fine only having King, as well as my daughter.

“The ice cream truck is here,” I called over the kids. Rose thrived in school and had a bunch of her friends over for a pool party and an ice cream truck. That was all she wanted for her birthday. Well, she did request a car, but I was holding off on that one. I didn’t want my baby to grow up. Even though I wanted to be in denial, she was becoming a young adult.

Not only had she thrived. She continued riding horses and she was recently in the Regional Championship with her newest horse. We had been to all her events as well as all of Kingston’s football practices.

Hope had been clean for roughly ten years now and had been a welcome part of the family, especially during the special occasions. She made a point to attend everything Rose had scheduled and had also cheered for King in the sports he played. Recently, he decided to focus his attention on football, even though he had played almost every sport.

We were living in a new house. It was more modest and perfect for the size of four. Susie no longer worked for us. She decided she needed to venture out into the world. I couldn’t be happier for her. And I couldn’t help putting money into her account once a year, because the woman deserved it. She meant more to me than she knew. I was too much of a hard ass to show it. But having two kids, that will soften you right up. I soaked in every single moment I had with my kids and with Kara.

Watching the kids eat ice cream and playing in the pool, I moved over to whisper in Kara’s ear. “How about we take a quiet moment to ourselves?” I suggested, taking her hand.

Looking at my face, she knew I was serious. I looked to Olivia. “Can you keep an eye on the kids for about an hour?”

She winked. “Sure thing. Take your time.” She knew exactly what was about to happen.

“What are you up to, Damon?” Kara asked.

Taking her hand, I led us upstairs. In the bedroom, I opened the drawer and reached to the very bottom, pulling out a pair of handcuffs.

“Oh shit,” Kara said before holding her hands
out. “Cuff me, Daddy.”

  “Damn, woman.”

  “We only have an hour.”

“The kids are fine,” I assured her. Locking the cuffs in place, I edged her onto the bed and took her arms, raising them above her head. With an easily accessible dress on, it was easy for me to slide it off her body.

“Damon,” she whispered against my lips.

  “Do you want my cock?”

  “Yes,” she answered breathlessly.

Placing a hand on her neck possessively, I took advantage of her mouth with mine. She satiated my dark cravings when it came to sex. We no longer had the play room we used to have way back in the day, but our bedroom was sufficient as long as she was willing. And she almost always happily obliged me. Just like I gave into making love to her when she wanted it that way. We had a happy compromise.

Lifting my body up, I took my fingers, lightly tracing them over her body. She writhed beneath me while goosebumps appeared from my touch.

  “Stop teasing me, Damon.”

I grinned. “What are you gonna do about it? I have you at my mercy. Bound.”

She was smiling back at me. “You better fuck me now.”

I arched an eyebrow up. “Oh, you’re a demanding woman. Mmmm, your body is so gorgeous, I just want to sit here and play with you.” Bending down to kiss her, I reached my hand down to rub her pussy. “My dove is soaked,” I told her as I tasted my fingers then inserted them in her mouth. “Taste yourself. Fuck, that’s hot.”

  “Please, Damon.”

  “I like when you beg.”

Taking my time, I licked her nipples so they were sticking out. I couldn’t believe how fucking lucky I was, because she was so gorgeous. Her body deserved to be worshipped.

Pulling her body to the edge of the bed, I flipped her onto her stomach. She let out a giggle and it was the sweetest sound.

“You think that’s funny?” I asked, bending over her body.

She tried her best to straighten her face. “No, Master.”

Fuck. I loved when she called me that. Coming out of her mouth, it sounded sexy.

“Do you want me to fuck you from behind now?”

  “Yes, Master. Please.”

My cock was rock hard. I needed to be inside her. I gave her ass a few smacks before I thrusted inside her.

  “Oh god,” she called out.

  “You like that?”

  “Yes, Master.”

She moaned as I continued thrusting inside her. But these days, her moans had to be more muffled.

Reaching one hand around, I rubbed her clit, while I was close to the edge of release.

“Oh, god. Fuck. Damon,” she called out, as her body shook releasing her orgasm. “Shit.” She was out of breath.

“I’m about to come. Fuck, Dove. Fuck. Shit,” I shouted all the obscenities.

Once I released myself, I rested on her back for a second to catch my breath. Finally, I stood, and helped Kara up. “Now what did I do with the key?’

“Don’t even joke like that Damon.”

I laughed, retrieving the key and unlocking her handcuffs. She offered a side eye as I joked with her. “We have time for a quick shower.” I circled my arms around her middle.

“A quick shower. And only a shower,” she insisted with a big smile.

  “I promise. Scout’s honor.”

“Somehow, I know better,” she told me as she slipped under the hot water.

  ***

Later that evening, Rose had a few girls spending the night and Kingston had a few of his friends over as well. We lit sparklers and let them have some fun in the back yard with a bonfire and making smores.

Hope came over to hug Kara and then me. “I’m going to head home.”

“Drive safe.” We watched as she hugged Rose and wished her Happy Birthday again.

She waved at us. “Thanks again for having me.”

After hanging out by the fire for a few smores, Olivia, Matteo, and Jade left. They lived across the street from us. And Jade and Kingston had been best friends since they were babies. And we loved their friendship. Perhaps when they grew older it would be more than a friendship.

“Mom and Dad, we’re gonna go up and play some video games.”

“Okay. Yell if you need anything,” Kara told him.

“We’re gonna hang out here for a little longer,” I told him. “Goodnight, son.”

Rose stood as well. “We’re going to go to my room, too.” She hugged me and her mom. “Thank you, guys, for my party. It was so much fun.”

“You’re welcome. Happy Birthday,” Kara told her.

  “Love you,” I told her.

“Love you guys,” she called over her shoulder.

Kara and I smiled while we made another smore.

Looking over at Kara, I laughed.

  “What?” she asked.

“You have a little bit right there.” I swiped the chocolate off and licked my finger. “You know there are plenty of other ways we could use this chocolate.” I grinned.

“I can’t believe you still have such a dirty mind.”

I laughed. “With you around, I’ll always have a dirty mind.” It was true.

She chuckled and shook her head at me.

“Did you think your life would be like this twelve years ago?” she asked.

“Never in a million years. But this life…it’s perfect.”

  “It’s our kind of perfect.”
