  Synopsis:

It seemed like our love story was full of surprises. I was pregnant with Damon’s baby, and then a secret child popped up out of nowhere.

I had already made the promise to love Damon. And he loved me. We decided we wanted to make a go of it.

But how were we going to navigate being a couple, becoming parents and having this family? I was in too deep now.

  Damon and I were bound.

  About the Author

  Chapter One

  KARA

I was utterly confused by the situation that was playing in front of me. Honestly, I didn’t know what the think. In actuality, everything in me wanted to run, but there was a little girl attached to my legs.

“How about we go inside and let the adults talk,” I told the small child as I guided us inside. I didn’t know what to do with her since I wasn’t around kids much growing up.

“Can I see what’s in your backpack?” I asked when we entered an empty room.

She handed me the backpack and I sat down on the floor to organize what she had with her.

“Okay, so you have some clothes, a few toys. Which one is your favorite?”

She pointed to a dirty and almost torn teddy bear.

“We’ll probably have to get you a new one.”

She yanked the bear from my hands. I couldn’t blame her for lashing out. Her mom was giving her away. And, apparently Damon was her father. That was a blow I didn’t expect. It was like being kicked in the teeth.

“Are you gonna be my mom now?” the child finally spoke.

“I don’t know, sweetheart. But you don’t have anything to worry about, okay? Everything is gonna be fine.”

  She shook her head.

Damon came into the room. “I swear I didn’t know about her. You have to believe me, Kara.”

  I sighed. “I believe you.”

“Had I known, I would have taken care of my responsibilities. I can promise you that.”

“We can talk about that later. Damon, meet your daughter, Rose.”

He knelt and smiled at her. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Rose moved to be closer to me as she was apprehensive of Damon. “It’s okay. She’s just familiar with me. She’ll warm up to you. We were going through her stuff and she doesn’t have much. Just some clothes and a few toys.”

“I already have Susie out getting some stuff for her for now. We can do some shopping together later. What do you think about that?” he asked Rose.

She smiled and nodded her head.

“You’re in good hands here. You don’t have anything to worry about. You’ll get your own room and everything.”

She rubbed her eyes like she was tired.

“Want to lay down for a nap?”

She nodded once again. I looked to Damon to see where we could put her. He asked her, “Can I carry you upstairs to our bed?”

Again, another nod. She didn’t like to talk much, that was clear. My heart swelled seeing Damon carrying his daughter up to the room. This was still such a shock, and I had no idea what to do.

Damon came down as the guests started leaving. We bid them goodbye, thanking them again for coming. A lot of them said it was nice to meet me. And most of them seemed decent.

“Wow,” Damon said, deflated, sitting on the sofa.

I placed a hand on his leg. “What are you gonna do?”

“I need to get a DNA test done to make sure she’s mine. Even if she isn’t, I would still take care of her because her mother is a junkie and she doesn’t need to be put into the system.”

  “You’re a noble man, Damon.”

“I hope you are ready for this crazy ride, because our life is about to change dramatically.”

I smiled, knowing full well what was happening. “The question is, are you ready to become a dad now?”

He beamed, “I think I am. Like I said before, I might be shit at it. But you’ll be a great mom to my daughter and to our baby you are carrying.”

I leaned over to kiss his lips. “Well, not only do we have a nursey for the baby, we need a room for Rose. So how about you get rid of that cage you have in that one room and we can turn that into her room? It has great lighting, and it’s not too big or overwhelming.”

  “That’s a great idea.”

“I think I should call off work tomorrow since there is a lot of stuff to do.”

He nodded. “Absolutely. I’m gonna need all the help I can get. I’m going to clear my schedule for the week. I want to spend time with Rose and make her feel comfortable.”

A grin came over Damon’s face. “There’s probably time for a quickie since she just went down for a nap.”

  “You’re a dirty dog.”

  “You mean devil.”

I laughed. “Yes.” I stood, taking his hand. “We gotta make it quick.” I led us to the farthest bathroom on the second floor. It was massive, and I doubted anyone used it on a regular basis.

Inside, he leaned in and whispered, “Face the mirror, Angel, and watch me fuck you from behind.”

Biting down on my lip, I gripped the stone countertop of the sink and stuck my ass out, pressing it into his erection.

“Now who’s fighting dirty?” he asked.

“Shut up and fuck me, already,” I called over my shoulder.

  “Your wish is my command.”

Later that night, we lay in bed and I questioned Damon. “How long were you with Hope? How did you meet?”

He sighed deeply. “I met her at one of my clubs. She worked there as a waitress. And she would be the last one to leave most nights. We kind of hit it off. She was different back then. We were tog
ether for about two and a half years. I broke it off with her when I found out she was doing drugs and she wasn’t willing to give them up. Then I guess she had a child and I had no idea.”

I knew he was telling the truth.

“What if she got clean and wanted to be a family?” I had to ask.

“Kara, there is absolutely no one else I would ever want. It’s just you.”

That made me feel more secure. “Okay.”

He wrapped his arms around me, and then I heard small footsteps patter into the room. Rose was carrying her little blanket and she had bed head hair. Damon reached for her and put her in bed between us.

  “Did you have a nightmare?”

She nodded and quickly fell asleep.

  Chapter Two

  KARA

“Let me take her and get her dressed,” Susie suggested the next morning.

  “Thank you, Susie.”

I was finding out raising a child was a full-time job and you constantly had to think about their welfare.

Damon and I brushed our teeth and he got this devilish grin on his face. “Shower with me.”

Knowing it was more of a demand, I obliged him and stripped out of my night clothes. Stepping in, he positioned himself behind me, grabbing my wrists and holding them behind my back. It turned me on how dominant he was and it turned him on as well. While one hand held both of mine behind my back, he moved my hair out of the way so my neck was exposed. He began planting kisses on my neck

I stuck my ass out to press against his erection and felt him smile against my skin. “Are you playing dirty, Dove?”

He had reserved calling me Dove only when it was sexy time.

  “Maybe I am.”

“Hands on the wall,” he ordered.

He released my hands and I planted my palms on the wall. With one hand, he reached around to rub my clit. In that moment and every moment in between, I was his. “Oh god, Damon.”

He shoved his cock inside me and thrusted while holding a handful of hair in his grip. This was so erotic to me. I was overcome with emotion that I let it spill out in tears. After Damon’s final thrust, he was concerned for me.

  “Did I hurt you?”

I tried to laugh through my tears. “No. It felt so good. I was so overwhelmed that tears started spilling out.”

  “It felt that good?”

“Yeah. It was like a whole different experience than just an ordinary orgasm.”

  “Well, I’m glad.”

  “Me, too. We’re good.”

After we dressed for the day, I told Damon, “Grab your laptop and we can order some of Rose’s stuff online.”

“Okay.” He leaned in to kiss me.

I was seeing a whole new Damon. Someone completely different. He had done a one eighty. He was still a dirty bastard and I loved that. And I didn’t want him to let go of his dominance. I wasn’t a broken bird, and I made that clear. We were getting to know each other on a deeper level. And I could say I loved Damon.

I bounded down the stairs and saw Susie had three full bags of stuff for Rose. “I might have gone a little overboard,” she admitted with a smile.

I smiled. “It’s okay. Let’s see what you got.”

With laptop in hand, Damon joined us and told Susie, “Thanks for doing this on such short notice. I know I gave you the day off yesterday.”

  “Oh, it wasn’t a bother.”

I reached in the first bag and pulled out some shirts, graphic tees, jeans, leggings, a couple of dresses, and underwear. “This is all great.”

“I wasn’t sure if she liked girly stuff so I stayed mostly neutral.”

“No, it’s great. We don’t know what she likes. But I’m sure she’ll love the shirts with animals on them.”

I continued sifting through the bags, pulling out variations of sleep wear, gowns, one pieces, and short sets.

“That bag has other essentials she’ll need like a brush kit, kids shampoo, and scrunchies for her hair.”

“Thank you, Susie,” I told her.

“I’ll reimburse you as well,” Damon stated.

“That is not needed, really. I don’t have kids of my own, so it was nice to do this for your little girl. I mean, is she?”

Damon shrugged. “I can’t be certain, but she has my dark hair and my eyes. I see the resemblance. But I want to do a DNA test just to be a hundred percent.”

  “That’s understandable.”

“Looks like Rose found us,” I said, spotting her at the landing of the stairs. “Come here and see all your new stuff,” I motioned with a smile. Sitting on the floor, I pulled her into my lap and showed her all the clothes. She smiled and was so happy. “Do you like all this?”

  She nodded her head.

“We can go get you more tomorrow and you can pick anything out,” Damon told her. “Does that sound good?”

  She nodded again.

“Your dad and I are getting ready to order some stuff for your room. Do you want to help?”

  “Yes.” She clapped her hands.

Damon scooted onto the floor with his laptop and Rose continued sitting in my lap. I held her close, trying to show her she was loved and she was safe.

“Point at it if you want it,” Damon said, scrolling through some bedroom stuff. We let her pick out everything she wanted. After ordering the bed, she picked out ruffled yellow curtains, pale yellow bedding, a huge teddy bear. And she picked out some animal print paintings that were a pretty penny.

“You have good taste, Rose,” I told her because she picked out some expensive stuff. But Damon never flinched.

  “Is yellow your favorite color?”

  “Yes,” she spoke shyly.

After we picked out some final touches, Damon suggested dinner. “Do you like pizza?”

  Rose nodded and smiled wide.

“Okay. I’ll go order it now.”

I smiled at him, silently thanking him. He was being so patient and showing a side of himself I had never witnessed before. I was getting a glimpse of him in Dad-mode. And I knew how he was going to be with our own child.

“Am I going to live here with you?” She pointed at me.

“You are. Me and your dad live here. And Susie is here a lot. And your dad has Matteo here, and my friend Olivia is here, too.”

She fingered my hair. “You’re so pretty.”

My heart melted. “So are you, pretty girl.”

I rocked her in my arms. “This house is gonna get crowded really quick,” I whispered to Damon. As I was saying all those names, I realized this house was big but I wasn’t sure it was big enough for everyone.

“I think Matteo wants to take Olivia to his house.”

  “Is it safe?”

He chuckled. “Is it safe? Pffft. It’s like Fort Knox.”

“Good. I don’t want anything to happen to her.”

Damon rubbed my back. “I know.”

Rose sucked her thumb while I continued holding her. Then the door bell rang. “Pizza is here,” Damon said animated, causing his daughter to cheer.

“Let’s go eat,” I said, standing and taking her hand as we walked a few feet to the other room.

After pizza, we sat in the living room watching some animated kid friendly movies while Rose sat between us.

  Chapter Three

  DAMON

I had a daughter. That knowledge was hard to grasp. She had been with us a week already and had acclimated quite well. She was no longer shy around me. Christmas was right around the corner, and I was looking forward to spoiling her rotten.

  “Daddy,” Rose whispered shyly.

  “Yes, baby.”

She leaned in close so she could whisper in my ear. “Can I call Kara Mommy?”

My heart filled up with so much love. “If you want to. I’m sure she won’t mind.”

Kara looked at us suspiciously. “What are you two scheming?”

Rose and I were thick as thieves now. And I relished being a father. It was a love I never kne
w I could give. I mean, I knew Kara was pregnant and I was so happy. But with my daughter here right now, it was a love I couldn’t explain.

Rose giggled, looking to me and back to Kara.

“She asked if she could call you Mommy.”

Tears welled up in Kara’s eyes. “Oh my gosh. You are such a precious girl. Of course you can call me Mommy. I know I’m not your real Mommy, but I will do the best I can to be a good mother to you. I will treat you as if you are my own. I promise.” Kara hugged Rose tightly and kissed her head.

I lifted Rose up and playfully threw her in the air and caught her. “Don’t drop her.”

“I won’t. I see you are already being protective,” I told her.

“Can’t help it. Just wait until she gets older and we’ll see who is protective then,” she teased.

“Yeah. She’s not dating until she’s thirty. And even then, I’ll have my gun ready.”

  “Damon Alessio!” Kara scolded.

  “I’m kidding. Kind of.”

Kara had to laugh anyway. “This is so different from when we first met. It’s hard to believe.”

“Yes, it is. But I like this.”

Kara smiled. “Damon the family man.”

“Has a nice ring to it. Don’t you think?” Rose rested on my lap and sucked her thumb. She was too adorable.

  “Yes.”

“I was thinking we could go out to dinner tonight. You can wear something nice; Rose can wear that dress she is obsessed with.”

“That sounds amazing.” Kara leaned in to kiss me.

Rose was obsessed with everything Frozen related and loved her Frozen themed dress. She threw a fit when we had to wash it and she had to wear something else.

  ***

“You ladies look beautiful,” I told Kara as she wore a dress showing off her growing baby bump and holding Rose’s hand as they bounded down the stairs.

Susie was off for the evening, and Matteo and Olivia were at his home where they now lived permanently. It didn’t mean I had less security around me, because I still had to be cautious. And Matteo still did his job and anything else I needed. But these days we were taking a family break. I knew once the baby came and we got into a routine work would resume as normal. But I wanted to be more legit in my business dealings because I had a family now. And I wanted to be there for them.
